# Agents that Little Spaces setup connects

> The coding agents that Little Spaces setup connects on Mac and Linux, what works in each, any one-time step, and how your answers reach each one.

Setup connects the coding agents below, the same list the **Works with** table on the **Agents** page shows. It finds each app by the folder or settings file the app keeps on your computer, and installs only for the apps your approval names. This page lists what works in each app, any one-time step, and how your answers reach its sessions.

## What works in each

The **What works** column uses the Agents page's words:

* **Runs, reports and answers:** sessions show under Runs, report milestones and ask you questions, and your answers reach them.
* **Runs and reports; it checks for answers:** sessions show under Runs and report, and the agent fetches your answers itself.
* **Reports; it checks for answers:** the app has no automatic hooks. Instructions tell each session to start a run, report milestones and fetch your answers.

| Agent | What works | One-time step | Seen working in a real session |
| - | - | - | - |
| Claude Code | Runs, reports and answers | None | Yes |
| Codex | Runs, reports and answers | Codex asks once to trust new or changed hooks: approve them when it does, or Codex sessions will not show under Runs. | Yes |
| Cursor | Runs, reports and answers | None | Not yet |
| Gemini CLI | Runs, reports and answers | Gemini CLI loads hooks when it starts: restart each Gemini CLI session that is running now, or it will not show under Runs. | Not yet |
| Copilot CLI | Runs, reports and answers | None | Not yet |
| Devin | Runs, reports and answers | Devin loads no hooks in Restricted Mode: its sessions show under Runs only outside it. | Not yet |
| Grok Build | Runs, reports and answers | Grok Build loads new hooks when a session starts: in a Grok Build session that is running now, open `/hooks` and press `r` to reload them. | Not yet |
| Muse Code | Runs, reports and answers | Muse Code loads hooks only when a session starts: start a new Muse Code session for it to show under Runs. | Not yet |
| Antigravity | Runs, reports and answers | Antigravity may read new hooks only when a conversation starts: start a new Antigravity conversation for it to show under Runs. | Not yet |
| Goose | Runs, reports and answers | None | Not yet |
| OpenCode (v2 only) | Runs, reports and answers | None | Not yet |
| Pi | Runs, reports and answers | Pi loads extensions when a session starts: in a Pi session that is running now, run `/reload` for it to show under Runs. | Not yet |
| Amp | Runs, reports and answers | Amp loads plugins when it starts: in an Amp that is running now, run its `plugins: reload` command, or restart it, for its threads to show under Runs. | Not yet |
| Cline | Runs and reports; it checks for answers | Cline runs hooks only while its Enable Hooks setting is on: check it under Feature Settings in Cline, or its tasks will not show under Runs. | Not yet |
| Aider | Runs and reports; it checks for answers | Aider reads its config when it starts, and asks before it runs a shell command: in a new Aider session, let it run `spaces session start` when it asks, and add the output to the chat. | Not yet |
| Windsurf Cascade | Reports; it checks for answers | Cascade reads its global rules when a conversation starts: start a new Cascade conversation for it to report. | Not yet |
| Zed | Reports; it checks for answers | None | Not yet |

"Not yet" means the connection was built from the app's documentation and hasn't been seen working in a real session yet. The Agents page and setup's summary say the same.

For OpenCode, setup installs only for OpenCode v2. For OpenCode v1, or a version it can't tell, it installs nothing and says so.

## How your answers reach each one

| Agent | How answers arrive | Can wake an idle session |
| - | - | - |
| Claude Code | A background hook wakes the session when an answer comes within 15 minutes of a turn's end; otherwise with your next message. | Yes |
| Codex | The end-of-turn hook continues the turn when an answer arrives; otherwise with your next message. | No |
| Cursor, Copilot CLI, Grok Build, Muse Code, Goose | The end-of-turn hook continues the turn when an answer arrives. | No |
| Gemini CLI, Devin | The end-of-turn hook continues the turn when an answer arrives; otherwise with your next message. | No |
| Antigravity | The end-of-turn hook continues the turn when an answer arrives. | No |
| OpenCode v2, Pi | With your next message. While the session is idle, Little Spaces' plugin wakes it with an answer that comes up to two hours after its turn ended. | Yes (not yet seen in a real session) |
| Amp | With your next message, or the end of the turn continues when an answer arrives. Nothing wakes an idle thread. | No |
| Cline, Aider, Windsurf Cascade, Zed | The agent fetches answers itself. | No |

An end-of-turn hook waits for an answer for five minutes by default, and only while a question or approval from the session is open. An answer that comes later reaches the session as the table says, or when the agent next fetches its answers.

## The session you paste the prompt into

That session started before its hooks existed, so setup connects it directly when it can tell which session it is, and it shows under Runs straight away. Some apps load new hooks only in a new session; setup's summary says when to start one, and the pasted session stays live through its own reports until then.

## An agent that isn't listed

An agent setup doesn't connect can still connect itself. Setup points it to `spaces connect --help`, which prints a short guide for the agent to follow. The agent shows you the exact change first, makes it only in its own user-level files, and writes no credential. Its sessions then show under Runs, or report and fetch your answers, under a name it chooses.

Hosted assistants, which run on their vendor's servers, connect differently: see [hosted assistants](https://docs.littlespaces.dev/connecting-agents/hosted-assistants.md).
